Sculpture – MFA—Master in Fine Arts

The specialization in Sculpture is the place for the maturation of knowledge centered on supporting research that requires, in it’s formulation, a solid awareness of the approach to space and three-dimensionality in Fine Arts. Due to the inseparability of this specialization and other major topics related to the idea of sculptural ield, the knowledge and possibilities of exploring the relations Space/Time, Matter, Volume, Scale, Dimension, Ephemerality, Action, Body – Reason/Emotion, together there are implications Spectator/Observer for the Communicating Action of the Achievements of Plastic Expression.

Also because of it’s various aspects or variants, schemes or conceptual structures, this specialization promotes dialogues and articulations between design, media, materials, tools and compositional structures that enhance research and creation based on student projects.

Norberto Jorge

Norberto Jorge is Assistant Professor at the Department of Fine Arts at Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade do Porto and i2ADS Researcher. PhD in Art and Design from Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade do Porto; Master’s degree in Art and Communication – Drawing Theories from Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade do Porto; Degree in Sculpture from Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade do Porto. 2022 – 2025, Coordinator of (FBAUP) the international project YES – Young European Sculpture, a project funded by the European Union (2022-1-FR01-KA220-HED-000087792, Erasmus+) created from the collaboration between several higher education courses in sculpture present in Europe. PhD in Art and Design: Fine Arts – Sculpture. Thesis/Artistic project: Self-censorship as a poetic agent of sculptural creation – Projects, Processes and Artistic Practices.
